Dr. Chiedu Austin Ogwu
Dr. Ogwu is a DFW-raised physician who is deeply connected to the local community. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Austin College and went on to receive his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean in 2014. During his clinical training in New York and residency with the University of Texas Health System in Longview, Dr. Ogwu developed a broad foundation of medical expertise and a strong commitment to primary care.
As an Internal Medicine physician, Dr. Ogwu specializes in:
- Managing chronic conditions like hypertension, diabetes, COPD, and asthma
- Providing urgent care services for minor emergencies
- Offering medication-assisted treatment for opioid dependency
- Guiding patients through safe and effective weight loss programs
Dr. Ogwu approach to care is grounded in building lasting relationships with patients and ensuring they feel heard, informed, and empowered at every step of their health journey.
JoniRai Schmidt, PA-C
JoniRai Schmidt is a board-certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) who has been in practice since 2004. She completed her undergraduate degree at Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska and then earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
PA-Schmidt began her career in rural medicine and primary care in Missouri and Arizona before moving to Texas. She has been with Alpha Medical Center since 2009. She is able to treat patients with a wide range of issues, however, she has a special interest in chronic conditions, such as diabetes, hypertension, women’s health and preventive care. She is passionate about patient education, and working to create a healthcare plan which meets the needs and goals of each individual.
Outside of work PA-Schmidt loves spending time with her husband and young daughter, traveling, reading and attending renaissance fairs.
